Bad Mom

Well not only was Kolbryn covered with scrapes but he also had a broken arm. Yes and it only took me 5 days and a husband to figure it out. Kolbryn was being such a baby about his scrapes that I couldn't even touch them with out a scream that I just left him alone. He was crying about everything. He wouldn't go to school because people were going to stare at him and he absolutely didn't want that so I let him stay home on Monday but by Tuesday I needed him out of the house before I was going to kill him. Every time someone got in line and asked him what happen he would come and hide behind me and cry. SO we spent a couple of minutes in the bathroom and I finally got him to go to school. Then wed. we went to the park and he rode his skateboard, got on his bike one handed and said look mom I can ride it with one hand. This whole it I was getting him dressed and undressed because he could move his arm. Well he had a huge scrap on his elbow and I thought it was because of that. Well by Thursday night we had a meeting at a park and James was there and asked what was wrong with Kolbryn. I said he is just faking it. James said no I think something is wrong. Kolbryn was trying to climb a rock wall and would only use his hand like a T-Rex. So James said take him to the doctors. SO we went Friday morning and got x-rays. We were waiting for the dr. to come and talk to us and the x-ray tech. came and said I think he should win the Best Kid award and I said what? She said come and look at this. The bone was totally broken all the way across. She said I was moving him all around and turning his arm this way and that and he didn't make a sound, then I looked at the film and said is this the same kid. So I wasn't the only one that couldn't believe it. So then I had to go and explain to everyone that I didn't believe him and then I really felt bad because I had been so mean. But he doesn't have to have a cast just a sling. The hard thing is keeping him in it.

Quick Sand or Male Stupidity ?

So over the holiday weekend we went down to moab. James and the older boys went down 2 years ago and had fun so we decided to go again. Well we ended up leaving late then the traffic was bad,it was like 2 1/2 hrs just to spanish fork canyon, we stopped to eat. Then James remember we didn't have the keys to the jeep, we borrowed a truck from work and towed the jeep so we didn't need the keys to drive. So we had to drive all the way back to around the point of the mountain where keelee and the girls meet us with the keys, thanks Keelee. SO by the time we started through the canyon it was 9. Well it was another 5 hr drive. I said james when we get there where are we going to sleep, he said out side, I said WHAT. he said what is wrong with sleeping out side, I said bugs, animals, people seeing you, etc. So I said you have to set up the tent aleast for me. then while driving I looked at the sky and said, what if it is raining. He said it never rains there. So we get closier and stop for a potty break and it is down pouring, he said it wont be raining there. We get there at 2:30 am and it is raining, and mud. WE wake up the kids and say lets go to sleep. Logan slept on the back seat, brittin in one of the feet spots in the back seat, Kolbryn in my foot spot in the front seat, I laid on the front seat, or I felt on the seat belt, and James laid his seat back and he and Brecken laid on his seat, then brecken came and laid with me, see how I said laid, not slept. Well by 6:30 we were up. Everyone in the camp looking at us and laughing,we were like a clown car, where people keep coming out. We got the tent up with some help of the other campers watching our kids. THen they fixed us breakfast and we packed our lunch and hopped in the jeeps. Brittin and Logan went with another family so we could all fit. It was really fun. I sat white knuckled and telling james to stop following so close, James drove as fast as he could, trying to spray people with mud. While Brittin and Logan were with a family that had squirt guns trying to get everyone wet. So our family was well liked. no annoying by any means. Well we saw lots of Indian ruins and high places. It was really nice when we were jeeping but when we were back at camp the kids wanted to climb all those rocks, well the 3 big guys could do it but Brecken needed someone following him, so that was hard. Then on Sunday we did a little devotional and got on our way, this is when James got stuck. Out of the whole caravan we were the only ones who needed help. James got his tow rope out and hooked it onto a jeep and it snapped, so then all the men made fun of him again and they had to get another one and drags us out. And we saw some more cites and they fed us a wonderful dinner and breakfast and then we started to head out and found our Truck's battery was drained so we needed help again. We went and saw some arches and headed home with no big problems after that. It was a fun family trip but I was really glad it was over, except for the clean up. THere was red mud every where.

Rocket Derby

Logan had his rocket derby for cub scouts. We got the rocket 3 weeks ahead of time to build it but when did it get put together? The day before of course. James never did it so finally Logan and I did it. We were out side trying to follow the instructions when I saw the missionaries walking by and I yelled Missionaries come and help. They came right over and sanded it down, so the shape was done, then we had to cut the wings, paint and put all the other stuff on. They didn't stay around for that they had better things to do, the nerve. :). We got it done hopefully the right way. I didn't glue anything in case it was wrong, James didn't get home till 9:30 so I had him check it out and then glue it. We went to the derby and Logan did one race and came in 3rd and said lets go, I said lets just wait a while, well he got to do 5 races, he came in 1st 2 times and 3rd 3 times. He was really feeling good about it. But what I figured out was that you just had to spin it more. THe leaders would wind it 30 times with their machine but if you gave it to them a little twisted already it would go further. You know I'm that kind of mom , do anything to make my kids win. We had fun. It was a long night but worth it. Thanks for all the work scout leaders do.

Road Rash Anyone?

We went for a Sunday family bike ride and came home like this. There are these roads all paved and waiting for houses to be built on, which isn't going to happen for a few years. SO we go riding there because the hills are so fun with no traffic. Well on the first loop we did well, then the second time time Kolbryn was going down the fast hill but still that wasn't fast enough for him so he was pedaling when going down. I was still up on the top with the bike stroller with Brecken. When I came a round the corner I saw him off his bike crying, Brittin screaming and Logan running. I knew something had happen. I didn't want to pedal to fast because my bike brakes aren't the greatest. When I arrived Kolbryn was bleeding from everywhere and wanting to jump in the stroller and go home, well brittin was trying to figure out how to ride 2 bikes at the same time and Logan was trying not to throw up from Kolbryn's face. We got home with Kolbryn and Brecken in the stroller, Kolbryn's bike on top of the stroller and a screaming parade. Kolbryn was screaming because he was hurt, Brecken was scream because he had to sit next to bloody man and Brittin Laughing because Brecken was screaming at Kolbryn. THen Kolbryn got mad because Brecken shouldn't be screaming because he was the hurt one. I got into the house and James is laying on the couch sleeping and brecken wont come in the house because he still wants to ride bikes with out the bloody man and I need to clean up Kolbryn's wounds. I take Kolbryn up to the tub and leave him there and get brecken in the house. I clean kolbryn up with water with ever touch a scream and I want to go to bed. Finally I give up and take him to bed. I read him a story and then he wants to read his own story but can't hold the book so he wants me to lay in the bed and hold the book and turn the page when he is done. I have the other kids to deal with, James still Laying on the couch. I say I can't I have to take care of the others. I finally give him some medicine and say this will make everything better if you go to sleep. THen he cries and says he doesn't want to go to school because everyone will laugh. So I promise no school or chores tomorrow. Finally he goes to sleep. What a fun Sunday bike ride!

Going back on Track

I made it and so did the kids. They are back on Track and I am loving it. The days fly by when they are in school. I don't know what I am going to do when Kolbryn goes full time. We are loving the weather and playing out side. Today was crazy sock day at school, Logan, Brittin, and Kolbryn all got ready and when they got in the car I asked did any one win the award they all told me no and Logan said no one voted for him so everyone hates him. What drama. Brittin told me how no one likes her because she was on the swing for 2 min. and they said 5 min and so she had to get off. Now no one is her friend. Kolbryn was just happy to go to school. We are getting Brittin ready for her Science report which we should have done off track but are rushing to do now. She is seeing if a HOt candle burns faster than a frozen one. IT looked like the easiest one to get done. THe kids are getting ready for their field trips. Logan is going to the Zoo, brittin the Planetarium and Kolbryn Wheeler farm. Logan invited Nana to go with him because I went with him in Kindergarten and Nana has never had a turn. We are hoping for good weather this Sat. for the soccer and football games. James is going to go roofing so I will have to see how to be in 2 places at the same time, hopefully I will have some loving helpers come and help. THe Joys of mother hood.

Easter

We had Easter at the Kearls a week before. Lets say we had fun. It was fun, really. Cousins and candy what else can you ask for. Just kids that can be grateful I guess. So when Easter came we decorated real easter eggs. We did 24 of them, still not enough to satisfy their craz for coloring them. But can I tell you the week that followed they got satisfied with egg salad sandwiches. What else can you do with cooked eggs? My kids get great joy in this picture of Brecken and the Easter bunny. Last year we went to the mall so excited to show Brecken the Easter bunny. When we got there he was on a carrot run so we looked in some shops and we saw him coming back. Well the 3 big kids went running to give him a hug, so of course Brecken followed. Well when the big guys moved out of the way, Brecken saw what they were running too and stopped dead in his tracks screamed bloody murder and ran back to me. Oh was that the greatest easter gift my kids got. Well it has been a whole year and the only thing the kids remember about easter last year, not what the true meaning of easter is for or what they got, but that Brecken ran screaming from the Easter bunny. Well this year we didn't make it to the mall by Sat. I didn't want to go to the mall on Sat, the line would be too long, So I was trying to think where we could go, so I could get a picture with an Easter bunny. We went to an egg hunt in the morning at Kearns High School, no bunny. We went to soccer game and then to lunch, no bunny anywhere. Then I thought of Macey's they always have something. They did, cotton candy, bounce house, free popcorn and an easter bunny. Well the Kids saw the bunny and were dragging Brecken to see him at first Brecken was jumping up and down in the middle of the isles to get to see him, then with one look at him, screamed and ran the other way. Brittin and Kolbryn laughed so loud everyone in came to see what was so funny. Logan was waiting in the car and I went out to get him so he could get a picture, but Brittin and Kolbryn wanted to show him how bad Brecken scream. So we got Logan to come in and then we had to go on a bunny hunt, with a store full of shoppers. We found him and Brecken would have nothing to do with him, so I made a deal that I would stand in the picture with him. Now that is the story of Easter 2009.
