Christmas already

It has been a long time since I have written, I think the holiday spirit has turned me in to the holiday grouch. We have done a lot since the last time I posted, we went to the beach, DIsneyland, had Thanksgiving and started jr b-ball. I couldn't post Disneyland pictures because James downloaded the pictures and I don't know how to change the format into anything I can use. I have waited to be told what to do and now I give up so I will post the thanksgiving and other things we have done and hopefully get the christmas pictures up before Easter. Thanksgiving went well and the kids classes have been going well. We made turkey chair covers, or should I say I made them but the kids did enjoy sitting on them. Kolbryn's teacher had them make place cards for every member of the family and write what they like about them, Kolbryn woke up extra early and set the table, he put my slurpee mug as my drinking cup because it is my favorite thing, he was so happy to do that for the family, but the family wasn't happy for it because we were trying to play games, clean the table, set the table and he wouldn't let us move things around. He was very happy to get a picture of it. Every year we take a picture of the kids inside the Christmas tree box to see how big they are, well this was our first year they couldn't all fit. Where did the time go? :( Logan is now if 5th grade and they have different teachers for each class kind of like Jr high so I am trying to deal with 5 teachers going on track and off track and my kid going off track and on track, let me tell you how fun it is. James and I are trying to teach logan how to study, that you bring things home from school and reread them, even though he says I already read this and he knows everything. " Mom this is now a days not the olden days when you didn't know anything, we don't have to do things like you did." It is really great being around him. Brittin comes home and tells the latest way of sliding down the icy hills at recess. FIrst I took my coat off and slide down the hill on my coat. I tell her don't do that it will ruin your coat. The next day ," we had so fun at recess today we went down the hill on my knees and we slide really far." My response, you will ruin your pants. The next day what did you do at recess, "nothing" so who knows what really happen if she did nothing or she did something and doesn't want to get yelled at. Kolbryn is still swinging and doing monkey bars. He made a commit that the chocolate milk gang let him play tag, I guess if you don't like chocolate milk you can't play tag but they let him play one day. I'm sure more happen in the last month but I can't remember now.

1st grade Halloween Party

Kolbryn had his Halloween Party today, THere was everything you can image there. There was a woman who made a back drop, took pictures and got them developed with in an hour. THere was a science lab, penny toss, halloween fashion show, story tellers, ghost sucker making, puzzle making, card match, and that was all before lunch and I had to go home . Kolbryn came home and said his stomach hurt and I asked him what he ate, he said I had a lot of sugar. I just had to tell you the extra kid is a neighbor I'm watching and he and Brecken did a great job of being good kids in the class while the party was going on. THe other thing I have to explain is Kolbryn's costume. I really wanted him to be the tin man this year, I have the costume from my sister and it is great, and he said no and I said yes and now you see who won. This costume was made by nana for Logan when he was in kindergarten.

Things to do in downtown S.L.C.

SO we found lots of things to do for free downtown. I am so sad my kids are growing up, but there are highlights to it. That we can go out for an adventure and not have to worry about taking a nap. We went to a free pumpkin decorating at the gateway and then rode tracks and visited Joseph Smith MOr. building, the church office building and the beehive house. I told my kids before going into the beehive house I didn't want to hear the "B" word. Which meant "boring" to me well when we came out of the the house Paul said we did it with out any "B" word. COme to find out he thought the "B" word was beehive. a side note I had told the kids too that we were going into the beehive house and there were not going to be any beehives that it meant industrious so don't get disappointed that there was not going to be any honey. So you can see why Paul got confused.

Where did summer go?

This was our last big outing for the year. We went on the Jordan River trail. I was trying to figure out how to get all the kids bikes in the car, it's a lot harder when the bikes get bigger, and so I asked if we could just roller blade. Everyone said yes and Brittin really wanted too. The last time we went rollerblading on the Jordan River trail we got our car broken into and our camera stolen. So this time the kids were nervous about leaving the car in an unsafe place so I decided to park by Gardener Village, thinking that would be safer, but when we pulled in to the parking lot there was broken glass on the ground and the kids started scream, I said I think it will be okay, and Logan said that is Satan just telling you that so stop listening to Satan and listen to us. Well I couldn't argue with that so we found our other favorite spot by the trail and got out. Well, Brittin was the first one out and first one with her blades on and finally the rest of us got our stuff on, then we started on the trail within 2min, I'm not lying, Brittin said lets turn around I'm done. I said no we are going to where we said, well that started everything, I'm never doing this again, why did you make me come, this isn't fun, why would you ever think this is fun, and on and on. While the boys are just skating away and having a great time. We finally get to our park and then they have a great time. What I have learned with my many years of being on the earth, or maybe my mom told me, is that if you do anything for too long you start hating it. So what I have to do is keep my kids excited about doing something is that we can't spend too much time at that one place. When I see that my kids have reached their peak of funness I say we have to go so that the next time I ask if they want to go they will remember that it was really fun and not how they got tried of it. I don't know if this really works or it is my way of not getting bored watching them, or the dreaded thing of them asking me to play, but that's what we do. SO we saw a lot of things and played at a lot of parks and took lots of pictures. And yes is the answer to the question is that Brittin did have fun and does want to do it again.

Weirdos!

Yes we are a bunch of weirdos, the pictures are the proof. There are stories behind them. Kolbryn had Johnny Appleseed day, so he went to school like that, he had apple bobbing, apple racing, baked apples, dried apples, and apple tarts. Brecken was getting ready for church and we found these pants in his closet, none of my other kids wore them so I don't know where we got them but I had to put them on and once that happen the laughing began, just with the pants. THen I remembered I had found a bow tie in the parking lot at school and was going to turn it in but hadn't yet and then the kids said get the nerdy glasses. So it was a team effort. Then we took off the tie and glasses and he went to church like that, his belly is so big that the pants went on top of his belly everytime he walked so it was really bad. I have no idea what his nursery leaders think, oh yea, we are trying to potty train him and is pull up ripped and came apart in class ( because of his big belly) so that was another thing, he was walking around with no underwear on as we walked home from church and the pants kept going up his bum. Then we were play a game after church that made logan go and get something you could turn wrong side out and he chose underwear. So james made him put it on his head and take a picture

the day grammy and pauly pockets came

So grammy and paul haven't come to visit in 5 weeks, so keelee talked them into coming over. All the grandkids had games and all at different times, except logan. So it was a good time to come. The kids had a good time and this time Brecken got really sad when Grammy left. This was his first time feeling this way, so it was really sad, James was suppost to go to GJ and get some vending machines in 7 days so Grammy asked if Brecken could go home with her, Brecken heard this and it never left his head. So she took him to a park so she could leave without a problem but he caught her leaving and he was sad. Come to find out James never made it to GJ so Brecken would have been there for a long while.

River rats!

Yes I am talking about my kids and husband, so my kids. They can not get enough of being in the water, sleeping on hard ground, eating dirty, listening to mother nature and now they have found an actual play ground in the wilderness. I guess the moms finally got tired of entertaining the children while the men put the boats away so they made someone put in a play ground for them. Any case they had fun with their dad on a trip, while I stayed home with brecken. I wanted to go but the thought of staying around camp and watching brecken do everything I didn't want him to do with dirt, bugs, fire, and sticks kept me home. We had fun and went to Jenny's shower and played with cousins.

ward campout

This was our 2nd year at the ward campout at Washburn, this is located between Heber and Prove. I think we spent most of the time eating, unpacking, packing, and sleeping. It was fun to be out as a family. We decided to stop at bridal falls on the way home, my family abandon me, I got to watch the shoes and they got to climb the waterfall. They went all the way to the top. Why I made sure their shoes had an enjoyable time.

before and after

I think the pictures will explain it all, oh this was his first !

Am I dreaming?

I just had to post this, last night I was going to wake Kolbryn up to do his nightly duty and I looked at him and had to run and go get the camera, He was wearing Brecken's pants and he had them on backwards. I had to take a picture of him, then when he stood up I had to take another, well I took him to the bathroom and notice he had no underwear on. When I had put him to bed he was wearing underwear, that is his P.J's of choice. So some how he had taken his underwear off and put on Brecken's pants, but the thing is that Brecken's clothes are in a totally different room than his. So I redressed him and put him to bed. IN the morning I asked him, why were you wearing Brecken's pants. He said he wasn't. I said yes you were and I even got a picture of it, because everyone knows that 6 year olds are smarter than parents, they are always right, so I wanted proof. He said show me, I showed him the picture and he said I know what happen you had a dream of it and then you took a picture of your dream, see what did I tell you 6 year olds are always right.

First day of school

Logan is starting 5th grade, Brittin 3rd and Kolby 1st, how could that be? BUt it is true I saw it with my own eyes, tear filled, but I saw it. Should I say tears of joy. James ask what am I going to do now, with just one kid at home, I say I am not going to be home, I will be helping out at the school. I mean I will have some down time but a lot of help and driving kids from here to there is what my life will consist of. Kolby is in flag football and wants to sign up for soccer at the same time, Logan wants to sign up for soccer and Brittin is already on a comp. soccer team, so I will be busy every night, that I need the day to recoop. I really miss my kids but I am glad they are learning and having a good time. Logan stayed up till midnight the night before school started, he said he was excited, I hope that is what it was, I had to go and sleep with him to help settle him down, it was worse than Christmas. Every one love the first day, but Kolby had to stay home the first day, for first graders they only got to meet their teacher on that day and then come back the next for the first day of school. He is really excited and so is Brittin. THis year they have teachers that our family has already had before. Kolbryn has Brittin's old teacher and Brittin has Logan's old teacher. I can't wait to hear what the teachers have to say about the kind of students they are. I am still going to be teaching classes after school for sports with my sister, it should be really fun. So I say let the fun begin, not meaning spelling list, book reports, showers, finding shoes, looking in back packs, homework being finished, lunch packed, feelings getting hurt. But the learning kind of fun.

food fight

I teach sunday school for the 12-14 year olds, the only way to get them to listen for a couple of minutes is to bribe them with a party, I give them a big marble if they are good and little marble if they have gotten in trouble and no marble if they are really bad, each kid that is,when the jar gets full, we get a party, well it has taken half a year but they did it. So we decided on a food fight party. The kids and I spent all morning getting food ready and by 2:00 we had it ready. The kids had a great time and so did I. We did a jello toss, nerd spitting contest, mash potato and noodle decoration, a pudding tug of war, a whip cream pie in the face contest, oatmeal relay race, and a flour and water capture the flag game, I loved double dare when I was little and this was our mini double dare game. It was like thanksgiving I spent all morning getting the food ready and with in minutes it was all gone.
